We need a new Tree...

Two trees actually.
We had just gotten home from dinner with Gary's parents and Craig when I heard tires squeal and a big CRASH!! I was in the bedroom and went running outside to see what had happened. First thing I see when I opened the door was our maple tree lying on the steps to our porch. Then I checked our fence (it was okay) but the neighbors front portion of the fence was lying in our yard, as were both of our mailboxes. So I ran back inside to tell Gary and then went back out to survey the damage again. Amazingly, there was no damage to the neighbors nearly new SUV that caused all of the mess. But the tree - it snapped off right where it came out of the ground! It is probably 8 inches in diameter. It was getting to be such a nice tree too. Dang!
We had the police come for insurance purposes. I am just glad that no one was in the yard when it happened, and that our fence is safe. We needed a new mailbox anyway.
