A New Job

I forgot to tell everyone that Gary got a new job this week. It was an unexpected surprise on both our parts. It is within the same company he works for now, just in another department. He is going to be an estimator. It comes with a small raise, new experiences and (hopefully) more variety for him. He isn't sure when he will start - two to three weeks. The new department is short-handed and wants him as soon as possible and the old department is short-handed and wants to hold onto him as long as possible. The job is actually the one he applied for at Ivory - but he was hired as a budget analyst instead (they never did hire an estimator.) Gary asked the Purchasing manager how his search was going the other day & Steve (his new boss) hummed & hawed about all the non-qualified applications he had. Steve actually took part in interviewing Gary and I guess he thought it over & decided he wanted Gary to have the job. It's not every day you get offered a promotion (of sorts) out of the blue! Way to go Gary!
