Evan the Explorer

I was watching a movie with Evan tonight and he was exploring the family room. He can scoot himself backwards when he's on his back, and is starting to be able to maneuver himself just about anywhere he wants to go. I don't worry about him rubbing the back of his head bald - the helmet provides a nice smooth scooting surface. He still hasn't figured out the forward scoot yet, but he does try to get his legs under himself. If he's like Daniel he will army crawl. Jackson crawled on his hands and knees. I am sure he will figure it out soon enough & we'll have to do a round of baby-proofing at his level. Evan is so curious. He wants to touch (and more recently taste) everything. I had him laying on my chest for a while tonight and he was studying my face so intently. He loves to touch my and Gary's faces and one of his favorite things to play with is our hands. He is also getting quite talkative. He babbles a lot, especially in the car, and quickly learned the art of high-pitched screaming from his big brothers. He loves to hear his own voice. It is so fun to see all the new things he does, especially since I can't remember Dan and Jack doing them for the first times.
I started working on Evan's Halloween costume tonight. The fabric I'm using is a super soft, silky fake fur and it is a mess to sew! I have tiny bits of it all over my dining room! I am not going to vacuum until it's done, so I'm hoping it's done this weekend. The older boys are going to be repeats - Dan will be a pirate again & Jack will be what ever fits - a pirate, a cowboy or a jester. I just didn't find any theme for all three that really tickled my fancy. I thought about doing the 3 little pigs, but then our big bad wolf (Max) died. I thought about Wizard of Oz, but we have no Dorothy (no, I'm not going to dress up). I should have had them be pirates & make Evan a parrot costume. Too late - he's going to be a bear (and a cute one at that!).

Fun! My mom might have extra costumes if you don't want them to be repeats. I'll have to ask if your interested. Your so creative! I wish I were more like that.

What a fun gift to be able to make costumes. Last year I managed to come up with a sloppy ninja head/mask thing that was luckily good enough for my boys!

I'm still chuckling about the "nothing you need to know about" comment. hilarious!
