It was an interesting article, but I have to say that nothing really put on the internet is private at all anymore. Although I do think there are ways to protect your self with blogging, you're doing one of them, I think that news report was directed to the "little slower" crowd. The ones that just don't think. Anywho... I hope you have my address!
I'm a freak when it comes to safety, that's why we've always been password protected and I fear with my kids pictures but what am I going to do when my dad lives 2000 miles away and wants to see the kids growing up. Guess you can't stay 100 % safe no matter what. Glad your going private!
will be interested to hear how it goes for you. we've had some other friends do the same, but the benefit has never seemed to outweigh the downside (difficult to access, no RSS feeds, etc.). one thing I found interesting in the article you posted was that the 'stalker' was a family member, i.e. someone close to the family that would have had access, presumably, even to a private blog. As is usually the case, most harm is usually done by someone you already know, not by a stranger on the web. will hope to hear how the experiment goes.
