Fathers and Sons Camping

Gary took Daniel and Jackson on the wards Fathers & Sons camping trip yesterday. The boys had a lot of fun. It was Jackson's first time going and Daniel's second. I made them tin foil dinners and Gary said they were good. :) Dan said his favorite part was playing with his friends, and Jackson like throwing stuff at the other boys (rocks, dirt, etc.). He is a little trouble maker! I sent the camera with Gary, but he didn't take any pictures.
Evan and I stayed home and went to the Relief Society's Mother & Daughters Luau. They do it at the same time as the Fathers and Sons trip. I guess they do that so all the moms left at home don't get lonely. It was nice though - we had Hawaiian haystacks and a Polynesian lady in our ward led some dancing. It was nice to just sit and visit with friends.
I have been busy posting on my new digi-scrapping blog. I am already up to over 4000 hits! Out of all the blogs I maintain that one is definitely the most popular. If you want digi-scrapping freebies from me, and to see my scrapbook pages, that is the place to look. I put a button up on the left hand side.
We got a new computer monitor today. I found a display model on clearance at WalMart today for $75. It is a 19" widescreen flat-panel monitor, normall $218. I am happy with it. It is nicer than the $15 D.I. big box monitor we have had for months that just pooped out on us. I am glad to have regained the space on the desk.
I have been taking a class from community education called :How to feed a Family of 4 for $160 a month." Our teacher Sheryl focuses on 7 things you need to form the base of a healthy diet. They are whole grains, legumes, water, oil, salt, sugar and powdered milk. She shared this recipe for whole grain oatmeal with us last week. I made some and we just love it. Even the boys gobble it up. And, they love to choose what topping go on top. If the ingredients don't sound familiar, they are just different types of whole grains. I got my grains at the Bosch kitchen store. You can buy them buy the pound there and they have a wide variety. You don't have to use the ones I used if you don't want to - experiment! I am trying to encoprporate more whole grains and legumes into out diet. The past week I have substituted brown rice for white, and have made the oatmeal (we call it "Super Oatmeal"). Today I am going to try Sheryl's recipe for Oatmeal Chocolate chip cookies. Yum!

I love the sounds of the Super Oatmeal, I am going to give it a try! And that sounds like a great class, I wish I could take one like that :)

And we love brown rice around here, it's as good as white and so much better for you!
