Baby Projects

I've been gradually sewing a few new things for the baby. I thought I'd show them and provide links to those of you who still read the blog and want to try them for yourselves.
#1 - Faux Chenille blanket

Next time I think I'll make mine a bit smaller and I'll sew the lines a bit closer together. I used 1 1/4 yards of each fabric, cutting through the back 3. My top was cotton & the 3 back were flannel. I ended up needing a little more than 2 packages of quilt binding for the edges.

#2 - Burp cloths
No link for these. I just cut 11x17" rectangles with rounded edges. The tops are flannel & the backs are terry cloth. I sewed two lines down the middle of each to keep them held together.

#3 - Car Seat Canopy
I pretty much just followed the pattern on this. It is nice and large, which I like. The strap attachments seemed short at first, but ended up being just perfect.

#4 - Car Seat Blanket

I liked this pattern because the blanket can't be kicked off and lost. There are holes for the straps, so it goes under the baby but can still be easily removed and washed. (I really love the elephant flannel I found for this at Joann.)

#5 -gDiaper (cloth diaper) inserts
No link here either. I just used a disposable liner as a guide for them, making them a bit smaller. I used fleece I had left over from other projects for the outsides and microfiber car cloths (cut into thirds) for the insides. There are 3 layers of microfiber in each liner. Again, I sewed two lines down the center of each to keep the microfiber from moving around and bunching up during washing.

#6 - Nursing Cover
Here I am on my 4th baby and I've never owned one of these. I like how it turned out, though I need to adjust the strap some.

There are a couple of other things I'd like to make, such as a pacifier clip, bibs and mei tai carrier, but those will have to wait until at least next week.

Very Nice! I don't know how you have the time to do all you do with your busy boys.
I'll keep you in mind when I need that next baby gift.
