Daniel was quite the attraction at dinner last night. We went out to eat with some of Gary's classmates to a Mexican place outside of town. They all got a kick out of Daniels facial expressions and his "fake" laugh. He was grumpy since he didn't take an afternoon nap, so he wasn't happy to sit in the highchair. After rounds of "uh-oh" - giving him something, he drops it and we pick it up, he started screaming. So Gary took him out of the highchair for a while and let him stand on the floor. Then we let him crawl on the floor (the restaraunt wasn't busy). That is when Daniel became the King of the Restaraunt. Our group was laughing hard at him "low crawling", and was taking pictures of him. Then a group of older folks at a booth started calling to Dan, trying to get him to crawl over to them. He spun around, and was just looking and smiling at everyone, loving the attention. One of the older folks said "You know he must be an army kid when he can low crawl like that!" When our food came, we tried to put him back in the highchair, and he just howled! He was not happy! Luckily, a friendly waitress came over and asked if she could hold him and we agreed. She walked around with him, letting him hold onto her hands and walk, or just carrying him, until we were done with dinner! Thank goodness for child-friendly restaraunts! The whole staff was playing with him. We gave her a tip, even though she wasn't our waitress, for being so helpful. Him being a jester for Halloween is so very fitting...
We agreed to buy the used Honda we've been looking at on post, but we can get an inspection first. We took it in today and the shop said it needs new rear brake shoes, an alignment, New front & rear struts on the left side, a new intermediate exhaust pipe & muffler and new tires (we knew about the tires). They estimated the cost at around $1050. I don't know if it's worth putting that much into a $3000 car. We'll talk about it tonight when Gary gets out of class. Even with repairs it's a heck of a lot less that a brand new Honda.
