Daniel's Third Birthday

In addition to today being Pioneer Day here in Utah, we also celebrated Daniel's third birthday.

He has gotten the hang of this Birthday thing & I think he wondered briefly on Sunday where his presents were (and his much-anticipated "Race Car Cake.")
Dan woke up this morning & came into our room to greet me & spotted the tricycle I assembled last night & apparently didn't hide well enough. He was thrilled with the sight and was so excited as Gary ushed him to the bathroom for the morning potty break. When Gary sat him down he says "Bicycle. For Dan's Birthday!" Smart kid. Gary re-hid the trike during the potty break & Daniel came charging back to the bedroom after he was done to get another look. When he didn't find it where he left it he was so disappointed, we decided to let him have it & he has spent the better part of the day learning to ride it around the kitchen, helmet and all.
When Dan & Jack took their afternoon nap I set to work on Daniel's birthday cake. His favorite thing right now is Cars, so his birthday had a Cars theme. I designed the cake myself & used some of his Cars character cars to decorate, plus some new ones for him. It was a challenging cake, since I had no pattern, but I am very happy with how it turned out. Dan absolutely loved the Cars cake, which made me so glad.We had family come to visit for ice cream, cake & presents. Daniel received some very fun presents & was especially thrilled with anything having to do with Cars (thanks Aunts Susan & Shelly!) He had a very happy birthday.
