Christmas 2007

We had a nice laid back Christmas this year, though it involved a nice little 24-hour flu bug. I got sick on Christmas Eve (Monday) and ended up going to the Instacare, which sent me to the ER (because I am pregnant), which sent me to Labor & Delivery (Because I am 36 weeks along). After a few hours with an IV for fluids they told me it was just a 24-hour bug & sent me home in a blizzard. I was better the next day but Gary had caught the bug. Needless to say, he slept as much as could could during the day. The boys sure had fun opening gifts. They both loved tearing into the wrapping paper to discover each new treasure. Dan got lots of cars - HotWheels & a race track, Cars cars & a Cars playset & a few small Cars items in his stocking. Jack got a Little People Dinosaur set that he thinks is pretty neat. When he opened it he sat & look over it saying "Raaaa! Raaaaa!" - that is his word for dinosaur. It was so cute. They each got a stuffed dinosaur & dinosaur book from their Uncle Eric. (Can we get another round of "Raaaaa"?!) Together they got a Thomas the Train set from their Grandma & Grandpa. That was a big hit. They love going over to Noah's house to play with his trains. We had to set it up for them as soon as we got home. Gary got me a sushi making kit which I broke out tonight & made California Roll salads for dinner. The boys were good sports & had some too - their first! I tried to imitate the same dish from our favorite Japanese place & it actually turned out better than I expected. I am excited to use the kit more often & have California rolls whenever I want! I got Gary an Ipod (since his last one was stolen) & he has been busy putting his music on it & happily jamming away. I hope that he will be able to use it at work when his new job starts Monday.
Overall it was just a nice relaxing day! The boys slept in (and so did we!) until about 8:30-ish. We woke them up and opened presents then had breakfast. Then we headed over to Grandma & Grandpa's house to visit, eat dinner & watch movies until Shelly, Jeff & Tyler arrived. Poor Ty has a nasty eye cold. Hopefully our boys didn't get it while we were there. We did our best to keep them separated & everyone liberally applied the hand sanitizer. After we opened gifts with the family we came home & played with the boys until bedtime. There is nothing like a house full of new toys to keep two little boys entertained for hours. After they were in bed we watched "The Best Christmas" episode of The Walton's (Season 5) & headed off to bed early ourselves. I can't believe Christmas has come & gone but now I can look forward to the next exciting day - the birth of our baby!
