We had lots of fun on Dan's field trip yesterday. We met at the school at 9:45 in the morning and found Charlie and his mom Betsy. The buses arrived around ten, and we started loading. Much to our surprise, one of the buses the district sent was a handicapped equipped bus. That meant there were only half the normal number of seats, not nearly enough for all the kids, teachers & parents.
Dan and Charlie were so excited to ride the bus, so Betsy and I left them on and carpooled up with 3 other moms. It was sad not to get to ride with them, but at least they got to ride a school bus. When we got to the patch they took us into a tent and showed the kids all the different kinds of squash and pumpkins they grown and read them a story. Then they let us all loose to wander the pumpkin patch and their hay maze. Each kiddo got to pick out a pumpkin (one they could carry). I think Dan and Charlie were more interested in the maze than the pumpkins.
Daniel picked one out then wouldn't carry it because it was wet & dirty. So Mama got to carry it. After we were done at the patch we stopped at a nearby park to have lunch.
The boys were more interested in playing than eating but we did manage to get some food into them. It was a great field trip, and great fall weather too. I can't wait to go again next year with Jack!
