We took the boys up Yellow John Canyon today for a day hike. It is located west of Herriman. It was a nice cool day and we had the whole place to ourselves. We only saw two other people on horseback and that was on our way out. The trail was wonderfully wooded, had a stream running near by and had lots of wildflowers in bloom. We took Oliver and the boys enjoyed taking turns holding his leash. Jackson loved letting Oliver pull him down the trail. The sky was a bit overcast, but had plenty of blue patches. It sprinkled a little while we were out but the heavier rain held off until we were loading everyone back into the van. It was a nice afternoon with the family.
A fuzzy caterpillar we found:
One of several huge mushrooms along the trail. It was literally 6 inches in diameter.

How fun. I've never been up that canyon. I'm thinking we will have to go soon if it's easy enough for the kids to do on their own.
I love the photos and the happy smiles of the boys.
