Gary's nephew Brad got his mission call this last week. They had an "Opening Party" that we went to on Wednesday night. They hung a map up and let everyone put their guesses up (where they thought he was going). The person with the closest guess won a big candy bar. Guess who won? Me! He is going to San Jose, California and I guessed Oakland. I still have most of the Symphony bar in my pantry, waiting to be savored. Brad is going to preach the gospel in American Sign Language. He was really excited about that. Congratualtions Brad!
On Friday we took the boys to the State Fair. We all had a good time, though Daniel was disappointed we didn't ride the rides. Gary and I bought a wheat grinder that we have been saving for. It was $50 less there than at the retail store. We also treated ourselves to ribbon fries. I have been waiting to taste those again since we lived in Arizona. So yum. Every year I mean to enter something in the fair, maybe next year.
That night we went to the Elder's Quorum Chili and Salsa Cook-Off. It was a very well-attended event with around 70 people there. We had 6 or 7 chili entries as well as 6 or 7 salsa entries. We won both first and third place for our salsas. The winning chili was good. We didn't enter any this year - next time for sure!
Saturday we went to another party for Gary's work at a cabin up in Midway. We had fajitas and played games. It was fun. They had games for all different age groups. It was a good way to get to know some of the people he works with a little better.

Hehe, don't let the boys get too close to that car. They're not cheap ;) I didn't know about Brad, that's awesome!
