Last night Gary and I went to the annual Military Ball for his National Guard unit. Wednesday I got some bee in my bonnet and decided to make myself a new dress for the event. Yes, in two days. I don't know how I got it done, but I owe a lot of thanks to my Mom who came over on Thursday night and stayed up until 1 am with me to get the top done. It wouldn't have been done sooner if the pattern had come with sleeves! Why don't they make cute formal dress patterns with sleeves? Oh well. Next year though, I won't do that again. If I feel the need to make another dress I will try and give myself at least a week's notice.
The Ball was good. We had dinner, watched a comedy routine and awards, then came home. It was nice to get out and have some "us" time. Thanks Mom and Dad for watching the boys for us!
Today we took the boy's up to Rice-Eccles Stadium for Governor's Day. It is an annual event where the National Guard troops all gather - Army and Air Force - and are reviewed by the Governor. The boys and I had prime front-row seats. Gary, or course, was in the parade. Before it started they were throwing t-shirts and stress balls to the people in the stands and we came home with two t-shirts, three mini footballs, two stress balls and half a dozen grenade-shaped stress balls. Quite a haul. Evan had a great time throwing his out onto the field, to be retrieved by kind soldiers passing by. (I only let him do that three times though, then his balls went into the backpack.) The boys had a great time calling to Papa and Uncle Eric as they passed. Eric even waved to them on his way out of the stadium. There were fly-overs by apache helicopters and refueling tankers. It was a fun morning with the family. Afterwards we went to the U bookstore and bought some t-shirts from their sidewalk sale. I got a Sugar Bowl Champs shirt for $5. Woo hoo! Now I have some Ute apparel to wear.

The dress looks awesome! That's definitely a talent that I don't have have, nor would I have the patience for. Boys look awesome in their shirts too!
That is a way nice dress, and your hair looks really good that way!
You made that dress with TWO DAYS of notice?! Amazing!
