It is a decidedly hard thing for a two-and-a-half-year old to take a nap when his toys are in the same room he is "trying" to sleep in. It is just too much of a temptation that more often than not, especially lately, gets the best of him. The other day I must have put him back to bed a dozen times. And at last, when he had been in his room (not sleeping) long enough, I went in to find the aftermath - toys and books strewn all over the place.
Days like those are when I wish we had a playroom. I have had some success with getting him to nap by just taking his two favorite toys (his Little People Zoo & Preschool) out of the room during nap time. The last couple of days haven't been as hard - he has been sick (again). That is one good thing about the boys when they are sick - they usually sleep more. I am not sure exactly what they have, a bug of some sort, probably picked up at nursery by Dan and then shared with Jack. It isn't too bad though.
Jackson does have an unrelated staph infection of his more private parts that is very tender, poor guy. It just appeared this morning & he was so sore he couldn't even crawl without crying. I felt so bad for him! Luckily I got him into his pediatrician and came home with antibiotics, Neosporin & infant Tylenol.
