Pioneer Day

Thursday was Pioneer Day. Gary had the day off work, so we decided to go downtown and see the parade. We were street side at a little after 7 am, the parade started at 9 am. We got front row seats, right in the sunshine. Being the Mama I am, I slathered the boys in sunscreen but not myself. I ended up with a little color, some of which was a pinkish hue. Note to self: Next year bring an umbrella! The boys did better at the parade than I thought they would. It actually held their attention for the whole length of it. They waved at all the people and clapped for the floats. Daniel got really excited for Ronald McDonald, the Soldiers that marched past, and the KFC float. Funny kid. My parent's Stake did a float about the First Encampment Park, which is just a few blocks from my parent's house. I didn't even know their Stake was participating. Evan napped for part of the parade and sat on my lap for some. A few of the early bands scared him, but for the most part he liked seeing all the colors go by. It was a fun morning with the boys. When we got home we all took a nap & then we let the boys play in their pool afterwards. To end the day we set off some fireworks. Jack was a little scared of them at first, but he calmed down when he sat on Papa's lap and was clapping for the fireworks by them end of the show. Evan, as always, was mesmerized.
